Theory

First Paper

(1).Abhinay and its types

(2). Difference between nayak and nayika.

(3). Knowledge of Paat Bhet and Mandal Bhed.

(4).Knowledge of costumes, colors and theater used in Odissi dance

(5). Different types of Lasya and Tandav.

(6) Rangadhidev Stuti, Dev Hasta, Dashavatar Hasta, Jati Hast (Knowledge of Brahmanakshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra, Bandhav, Navagraha hast).

(7). Brief history of all the classical dances of India.

(8). The practice of writing the Southern Taal groups in each Jati.

(9).Study of granth on the context of development of Orissa dance in different yug.

(10). Knowledge of Odissi lok nirtya.

(11).Knowledge about various musical instruments used in Odissi dance

(12).Knowledge of all technical terms used in Odissi dance

(13). Knowledge of rules of composition of group and baile dances.

(14). Ability to choreograph dance on new subjects.

15).Knowledge of operation of different body parts related to Odissi dance

(16). Essay writing ability.

(17).Life introduction and contribution of the following Odissi dance artists

(18). Study of granth related to Odissi dance .

(19). Knowledge of South Indian lok nirtya and their characteristics.

Second Paper

(1). Study of Southern and Northern Taal paddhati and use of Odissi Taals with description of Guru, Laghu, Drut Anudut.

(2). Knowledge of hand gestures related to the following:- Four Jati, Relatives, Avatar, Navgrah, Devta.

(3).Study of Indian mythology based on any five subjects related to dance.

(4) Study of idols existing in different parts of the country with special reference to Orissa sculpture. Study of Nataraja idols.

(5) Chhau – Origin of dance and its main features.

(6).Knowledge of the following:- Orissa Dand, Nritya, Ramlila, Krishnalila and Yatra.

(7).Study of the following:-dance drama and opera.

(8). The origin of taal and its ten pran.

(9). Knowledge of the history of Indian stage decoration, lighting, costumes and dance etc.

(10.) Complete use of 23 combined hand gestures and their use in Odissi dance.

(11). Detailed study about abhinay and its four parts

(12). Complete knowledge of Jagannath Dharma and Odissi dance.

(13). Information about the different characteristics of Lasya and Tandav.

(14). Complete information about Navras and its importance in Odissi dance.

(15). Ability to lipibaddh all Taals from first year to this year.

Practical

(1). Geetabhinaya with sthai and sanchar bhav on the composition composed by Benudhar, Banamali, Gopal Krishna.

(2).Difficult Khandi and Arsa practice of ten taal.

(3) One verse each of Gita Govind and Chapu along with Sanchari.

(4).Acting performance of nayak  and nayika.

(5). Practice of all types of lok dances and aadhunik dances of Orissa.

(6. Ability to sing and dance.

(7). Practical knowledge of Odissi raags and ragan.

(8). Working knowledge of various aspects of the circle.

(9). Working knowledge of one of the following dance styles:- Bharata Natyam, Kathak, Manipuri.

(10). Practical knowledge of the following hand gestures:-

(a) Dashavatar hast

(B) Char jati Hasta

(c) Avatar Hasta

(d) Sambandhi hast.

(11).Knowledge and ability to perform dance postures described in Rajarani, Kapileshwara, Gauri mandir and Parasurameshwara .

(12). Ability to dance on all taals mentioned in the syllabus from previous years to this year.

(13). Ability to Practically differentiate between dance, dance and drama.

(14).Practice of Padhant.

(15). Practical knowledge of dance direction on new subjects.

Stage performance:

(1). The candidate should be able to perform the dance for at least 30 minutes.

Note:-The syllabus of previous years will be combined.
