Definition

(1). Tandav or Tandav Natya is a supernatural dance performed by Lord Shankar. In Nataraja form, Shiva is depicted performing the Tandava dance.

(2). Tandav is also the name of a ‘grass’ or grass. Tandav is also a name of Shiva.

Description

(1). The dance of men is called Tandav and the dance of women is called ‘Lasya’. Tandav dance is very dear to Shiva.

(2). The Indian dance-drama called Tandav is a fierce and fast-paced dance. When this dance is performed with joy, then it is called ‘Anand Tandav’.
