Early Life –

  • Sameer Rao started his musical journey in Hindustani classical music and flute playing under the tutelage of Pandit Veerbhadraiah Hiremath in Mysore. He was chosen as disciple by the world famous flute magician, living legend, Padma Vibhushan, Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia.
  • Under the guidance of Panditji, he discovered various aspects of Indian classical music and the nuances of flute playing.
  • Sameer was a resident student of Vrindaban Gurukul, Mumbai, which still keeps the ancient Guru-Shishya tradition of the traditional Gurukul alive, who was trained under Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia from the year 2004 to 2010.

Career –

  • Sameer looked after the newly built Gurukul by his Guruji in Bhubaneswar, Orissa from 2010 to 2012. Here Sameer advised music aspiring students and also took care of all the operational activities of the Gurukul. Sameer is an “A” category artiste by Akashvani (All India Radio).
  • Sameer also accompanies his Guruji Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia to his concerts. His solo and world music albums have been released internationally and have won the hearts of music lovers. Currently Sameer lives in Mysore.
