Theory

(1).Definitional knowledge of the following words –

Naad (Aahat-Anahat) and characteristics of Naad, Shruti, Wakra Swar, types of Thaats, Varna (Sthai,Aarohi,Avarohi,Sanchari) Vadi, Samwadi, Pranavadi, Vivadi, Purvarang, Uttararang, Grah, Ansh, Nyas, Raag, Knowledge of recording types of Taals in Bhatkhande and Vishnu Digamber taal paddhati of Alap, Gamak, Taan Meend, Sparshaswar Aashraya raag, Ghasit, Janak, Thaat and Janya Raag, Taal, Lay.

(2).Study of mutual differences of the following –

         Thaat – Raag                               Shruti – Swar

         Tan-Alap                                      Naad-Shruti

(3).Knowledge of Vishnu Digambar and Bhatkhande Swar lipi paddhati.

(4).Types of songs – Dhrupad, Khayal, Tarana, Sargam Geet, Lakshan Geet.

(5).Full introduction of raag groups set for this year.

(6).Recognizing raags by looking at the given swar groups and knowledge of similarities and differences between Sam prakrti raag.

(7).According to Aadhunik opinion, the method and rules of dividing 22 Shrutis into seven swars.

(8).In Bhatkhande paddhati, practice of writing swar in swar lipi for different types of geet prescribed in syllabus including khayal (Laykari,Alap etc. for Dhrupad singing examinees).

(9).Practice of writing taals including taal groups Thah, Dugun and Chaugun Sam, Tali, Khali prescribed for this year.

(10).Contribution in the field of biography and sangeet –

Practical

(1).Practice of singing difficult Alankar in Shudha and Vikrit swar.

(2).In the following raag groups, Chota Khayal including Alap and Taan, it is necessary for Dhrupad gayan  candidates to know singing with Thah, Dugun and Chaugun Laykari.

  • Vrindavani Sarang
  • Durga
  • Bageshree
  • Bhimpalasi
  • Patdeep
  • Hamir.

(3).Must be engaged in Bada Khayal in one Taal and Nibadh(Dhrupad Chartaal or Sool taal for Dhrupad examinees) in any two raags of the syllabus.

(4).One Dhrupad (ability to sing with Vilambit and Dugun laykari) in any one of the prescribed ragas for first and second year.

(5).Ability to recognize raag by listening to Alap.

(6) Practice of showing khali, Tali on the hands in Dugun and Chugun lay of the Theka bol of the following Taal groups.

  • Tritaal
  • Ektaal
  • Chartaal
  • Teevra
  • Sooltaal
  • Jhaptaal.

(7).Practice of singing by pressing useful notes of raag on tanpura or harmonium.
