Theory

(1).Brief definitions of the following terms:-

Sangeet, Dhwani, Naad, Swar, Shudha Swar, vikrit Swar (Komal Swar, Tiwra Swar), Varjit  Swar, Saptak, Mel, Alankar (Palta), Raag, Jati (Audav, Shadav, Sampurn), Vadi,Samvadi, Pakad, Alap, Taan, Swaramalika, (Sargam geet) Lakshan Geet Sthai, Antara, Lay (Vilambit, Madhya, Drut), Matra, Taal, Vibhag, Sam, Tali, Khali, Dugun, Theka, Varjit Swar, Avartan all these definitional words The description should be explained with the help of ragas and taals of the syllabus.

(2). Classical Knowledge of Raags of the course: Mel (thaat) of raags, Swar, Aaroh, Avaroh, Pakad, Main-Swar Samuday , Samay Jati, Vadi, Samvadi, Varjit Swar, etc. Details.

(3).Elementary knowledge of the signs of swarlipi.

Practical

(1).Swar Gyan: – Singing / playing, recognizing seven Shudha swar. Singing / playing komal, tiwra,swar and identifying them with the help of swar of a raag. Sing / play five simple ornaments of the following shudha swar in vilambit and madhya lay and use each ornament in any one raag of the course.

(2).Raag Gyan :-

  • Yaman
  • Kafi
  • Khamaj
  • Bhimplasi
  • Bageshree
  • Bhupali
  • Desh
  • Durga.

Aaroh-Avaroh, Pakad and initial Alap/swar vistar of all raags.

(3).Athuva Gat, a song of Madhya lay in every raag.

(4).Preparation to sing or play for 5 minutes in any of these 6 raags including Bandish / Gat, Alap / Swarvistar, Athuva with Taan, Gat Todo.

(5). One song in Jhapataal or Rupak Athuva Ektaal, two Sargam geet and two Lakshan geet, one Drupad (including Dugun) and one Bhajan should be performed in the raags of seven additional songs course. For the students of playing, two compositions should be made in taals other than Tritaal, and one Dhun with instrumental Alankar and special bol.

(6).Recognizing the raag by the main Raagdarshak swars.

(7).It is essential to sing and play the national songs “Vande Mataram” and “Jan Gan Man”.

(8).Taal gyan : – Knowledge of Ektaal, Chartaal, Jhaptaal and practice of recitation by giving taal with hand.

Information : –

(1).Each student will have 15 minutes for this test. It is necessary to take the examination of each student separately.

(2).Harmonium will be used only for Aadhar Swar (Shadaj – Pancham / Madhyam). Accompaniment will be allowed only while singing the first raag.

(3).Bandish with Alap Taan in the asked raag: 8 marks and Bandish with three Alap or 5 Taan in another raag: 7 marks. Total: 15 Marks.

(4).One Alankar in shudha swar and one in any raag: – 6 marks.

(5).In Drupad or Vadhyanukul Alankar Thah and Dugun: 5 marks.

(6). Stealing three taal and binding them in others: 5 marks.

(7).Any three types out of Lakshan Geet, Bhajan, Sargam Geet, Dhun, Vande Mataram and Jan Gan Man: 12 marks.

(8).Identification of raags (three ragas): 6 marks.

(9).Recognizing Vowels Sa Re Ga, Dha Ni, Ga Ma Pa, Ma Pa Pa Ni, thus two groups of swar 6 marks.

(10).Knowledge of two taal and signing theka bol by hand-: 5 marks.

Theory –

Knowledge of a raa: 5 marks.

Knowledge of any one song / Gat Prakar or swar lipi paddhati: 4 marks and other three peak definitions : 6 marks.

Total :- 15 Marks.
