Theory

(1).Definition and simple explanation – Dhwani, origin of Dhwani,Kampan, Aandolan -Niyamit)Aniyamit, Sthirta)-Asthirta Aandolan),Aandolan – Sankhaya, three characteristics of Naad , High-Low Aandolan -Number Relation, Naad and Shruti Types of songs – Bada-Khayal, Chota Khayal, Dhrupad and Lakshan-geet ke avayav, (Sthai, Antara, Sanchari, Abhog), Janak Thaat, Janya Raag, Ashraya raag, Grah, Ansh, Nyas, Wakra-Swar, Samay- Samay and Saptak’s Poorvang-Uttarang, Vadi-Swar’s relation with the time of Raag, Poorvang-Uttarang raag, Tigun, Chaugun, Meend, Kan, Sparsh Swar and Wakra swar.

(2). Raga Parichay – Complete introduction of first and second year raags and practice of writing them in swar lipi including Thaat, Swar, Aaroh-Avaroh, Jati, Pakad, Samay, Varjay swar and Alap taan.

(3). Taal Parichay – Complete introduction to Taals of both the years and practice of writing them in Thah, Dugun, and Chaugun.

 (4).Knowledge of Bhatkhande swarlipi paddhati.

 (5).Identifying raags by written swars.

(6).Knowledge of telling the similarity-difference in similar raag.

(7). Brief biography of Tansen and Amir Khusro and introduction to their musical works.

Practical

(1).Swar-Gyan – Special knowledge of singing and recognizing Shudha,Komal and Tiwra swra. Difficult vocal groups than first-years – practice singing and recognition.

(2).Knowledge of lay – To show Thah, Dugun and Chaugun lay by clapping or with the help of swar.

(3).Practice of singing difficult Alankar in sargam and Aakar.

 (4).Raags –

  • Bageshree
  • Durga
  • Asavar
  • Bhairavi
  • Vrindavani-Sarang
  • Bhima-Palasi
  • Chote-Khayal in Desh raags.

(5).Yaman, Bihag, and Alhaiya-Bilawal, one exercise each in one Khayal -one Vilambit and Swar-Vistar.

(6).Practice of singing in Dhrupad Thah, Dugun and Chaugun lay in any two raags of the syllabus.

(7). In Chota Khayal, take Alap from your mind and mix it with the tabla. Taal – Knowledge of reciting Ektaal, Rupak, Tivara, Jhaptaal and Sool Taal by tali in Thah, Dugun and Chaugun.

(8).Raag recognition.
