Theory

(1).Definition – Two sangeet paddhati of India, Dhwani, Origin of Dhwani, Naad, Naad-Sthan, Shruti, Swar, Prakrit Swar, Achal and Chal Swar, Shudha and Vikrit-swar (komal and tiwra), Saptak ,Madhra) Madhya, Taar, (Thaat, Raag, Varna , Sthai ) Aaroh , Avaroh Sanchari,(Alankar (Palta), Raag Jati Audav), Shadav, Sampurn Vadi, (,Samvadi , Anuvadi, Varhit Swar, Pakad Alap Taan, Khayal, Sargam, Sthai , Antara,Lay Vilambit) Madhya, Drut), Matra, Taal Vibhag, Sam Tali, Khali Theka, Aavartan, Thah and Dugun.

(2). Raga Introduction – Brief introduction to the raags of the syllabus.

(3).Taal Introduction – Complete introduction to the taals of the syllabus and practice of writing them in Thah and Dugun.

(4).Raag recognition by written swar groups.

(5).Elementary knowledge of any one method of Vishnu-Digambara or Bharat-Khande paddhati.

(6). Brief biographies of Vishnu Digambar and Bhatkhande and brief introduction to their musical works.

Practical

(1).Swar-Gyan – Knowledge of singing and recognizing 7 Shudha and 5 Vikrit -swars, mostly practice of singing and recognizing simple groups of 2-2 swars. Special knowledge of Shudha swar.

(2).Lay-gyan – One in one, two in one and four in one numbers or    Laykari knowledge of swars, knowledge of stability of lay.

(3). Practice in sargam and aakar of ten simple Alankars.

(4).Raags –

  • Alhaiya Bilawal
  • Yaman
  • Khamaj
  • Kafi
  • Bihag
  • Bhairav
  • Bhupali

Ek-Khayal in raags with some simple taans.

(5).Knowledge of simple Alap in these raags and practice of clapping hands while singing and singing with tabla.

(6). Taal – Practice of reciting

  • Dadra
  • Keharwa
  • Teentaal
  • Chartaal while clapping in Thah and Dugun.
