Hameer Raag is believed to have originated from Kalyan thaat. In this raag both Madhayam are used and all the swars are used as shudha. Its jati is Sampurn -Sampurn(7,7). In this raag Dha & Ga are Vadi & Samvadi swar .The singing time of this raag is 6 pm to 9 pm (the first part of the night).

Important notes:-

1.Twira Ma are less used with Pancham in aaroh only and shudha Ma are used in both aaroh and avaroh. As Ma Pa or Ma Pa Dha Pa, Ga Ma Re Sa. Twira Ma can be used in Same way in Kedar, kamod and Hameer raag.

2.Mostly curve Ni are used in aaroh. As Ni Dha Sa*. Sometimes flat Ni are used. Gandhar swar is curve in avaroh. As – Ga Ma Re Sa.

3.Sometimes komal Ni are used with Dhaivat in aaroh to increase fairness of raag generated from Kalyan Thaat. As Hameer, Kedar and Kamod.

4.While going from the Ma or Ga to higher octave Pancham are left in aaroh. As Sa Re Sa, Ga Ma Dha, Ni Dha Sa*.

5.Mostly curve Re are used in Aaroh and straight forward Sa to Gandhar. As Sa Re Sa Ga Ma Dha.

6.The personal specialty of this raag is to look forward to Nishad on Dhaivat. As Ga Ma NiDha, Ni Dha Sa*.
