Gaur Sarang raag is believed to have originated from Kalyan thaat. All the swars are used as Wakra in aaroh and avaroh. Its jati is Wakra -Sampurn. In this raag Ga & Dha are Vadi & Samvadi swar . All the swars are used as shudha except for the both Madhayam. The singing time of this raag is 9 am to 12 pm (the second part of the day).

Important notes:-

1.Twira Ma are less used with Pancham in aaroh- avaroh only.

2.Sometimes komal Nishad are Less used in avaroh to increase fairness of raag similar in Hameer and Kedar raag. As Sa* Dha Ni Pa.

3.The association of Pa and Re show again and again in this raag. This is used in end of each Aallap.

4.Due to curve practice of this raag it’s known as raag of curve Sampurn jati. Curvature reduse in tones.

5.Nishad are less used with Curve Nishad.
