• It is clear from the name itself that it is a type of sarong. Bhatkhande ji, King Nawab Ali and his followers don’t put a komal foot in its aaroh and avaroh and the scholars who do, are very few in the avaroh.
• Sharp is used in its ascension and pure m is used in its descent. Sometimes both mediums are used together like – Re Ma(t) Ma Re Sa.Ni.
• In Aaroh, Rishabh takes a particle of pure medium and goes to intense medium. See Aaroh for example.
• It is a raga of serious nature. Its trend is especially in Mandra and Madhya Saptaks.
• In the descent always comes from Madhyam to Rishabh on Meend like – Re Ma (t) Pa Ma Re, .Ni Sa.
• In ancient times, Sarang was considered to be Shudha Sarang, but nowadays it is understood to be Vrindavani Sarang from Sarang.
