First paper

(1).Definition of the following: -Vaniyas of Dhupad, Swasthaan niyam, Aavirbhav, Tirobhav, Bahutva, Vaggeykar, Difference between Thaat and Raag, Difference between Shruti and Swar

(2). Introduction to the following song types:- Shyama Sangeet, Brahma Sangeet, Ram Prasadi Sangeet, Tusu, Avatar Ghazal, Geet, Thumri and Tappa.

(3).Knowledge of Lok geet of different provinces of their respective states.

(4).Influence of Hindustani sangeet on Bhav Sangeet.

(5).Development of Aadhunik sangeet.

(6).Ras Vaichitraya of Aadhunik sangeet.

(7).Influence of western music on Aadhunik sangeet.

 (8).Contribution of lyricist and composer in Aadhunik sangeet.

(9).Merits and demerits of Aadhunik musicians.

(10).Usefulness of music conferences.

(11).Biography:- Tansen, Abdul Karim Khan, Atul Prasad, Dwijendra Lal, Rajni Kant, Ram Prasad and Yadu Bhatt.

Second Paper

(1).Pracheen and Aadhunik views on shruti-swar Vibhajan.

(2).Special rules for singing Khayal, Raag Pradhan Geet, Bhajan etc.

(3).Siddha of Jat in different song types

(4).Detailed knowledge and comparative study of song types prescribed in the syllabus

(5).Detailed study of taal group used in Kirtan

(6).Ability to swarlipi a song into Swarbaddh and Taalbaddh .

(7).Complete introduction and study of similarities and differences of raags prescribed in the syllabus

(8).Practice of writing taals prescribed in the syllabus in different laykari and knowledge of its similarities and differences.

Practical-

(1).It is essential to know Chota Khayal in the following Raags-

  • Puriya
  • Darbari Kanada
  • Miyan Malhar
  • Marwa
  • Multani
  • Maru Bihag
  • Adana
  • Sindhura
  • Basant Bahar.

(2).It is essential to know one Tappa and two Thumris in Pilu and Tilang raags.

(3).It is necessary to know Dhupad (Thah, Dugun, Tigun and Chaugun Laykari and Sath) in any raag.

(4).Ek Dhamar Ekgun and Dugun including laykari.

(5).Practicing the following songs-

  • Chandidas Padavali (one), Nazrulgeet (one), Rabindra Sangeet (one), Kamalkant’s Shyama Sangeet (one), Gyan Das (one) for Bengali speakers, various Provincial lok geet (one), Meera Bhajan (one), Surdas Bhajan (one), Brahmanand Bhajan (one), Tulsi Das Bhajan (one), Kabir Bhajan (one), Ghazal (one), Vidhapati Padavali (one), Ramdas Padavali (one), Atul Prasadi (one), Rajinikanth (one), Dwijendra Geet(two), (one) Kajri (one), Ragasrit Geet- Five (must be in Purvi, Shivranjani, Bahar, Basant and Raageshree ragas).
  • For other language speakers – Meera Bhajan (i) Surdas Bhajan (i) Brahmanand Bhajan (i) Tulsidas Bhajan (i) Kabir Bhajan (i) Ghazal (ii) Dadra (i) Avatar (i) Regional lok geet (i) Four), Geet (one) Kajri (one) Ragasrit Geet- Five (Purvi, Shivranjani, Bahar, Basant, and Raageshree must be in raag.

(6).Knowledge of Tilwada, Pancham Sawari, Qawwali, Ada Theka, Launi, Lofa and Deepchandi Taals and practice of speaking the words of their theka by showing tali khali on hand.

(7).Compulsory to sing with Tanpura.

Stage Performance

(1).The candidate will have to give a spectacular stage performance for 35 minutes as per the prescribed syllabus.
