Theory

(1). What are the combined bol produced by striking at which places on the right and left sides of the tabla and pakhawaj, description and development.

(2).Study of the following technical terms- Bol, Kaida, Palta, Tihai, their types, Mohra, Mukhda, Tukda, Tigun and Chaugun, Raila, Peshkar, Uthan and Paran, Sangeet, Jati, Naad, Swar and Saptak.

(3). Knowledge of Taal paddhati of Bhatkhande and Vishnu Digambar ji.

(4).Writing of Theka of prescribed Taal groups in first and second year in Dugun and Chaugun lay.

(5). Biography – Mr. Anokhelal Mishra, Mr. Kanthemaharaj, Mr. Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande, Amir Khusro.

(6) Evolution of tabla and Parakhawj.

(7).Knowledge of the development of the traditions (gharana) of its instrument and the names of its important players.

(8). Information about prestigious tabla and pakhawaj players of divisional level.

(9). Ability to taallipibaddh Mohra, Tukda, Tihai, Paran etc.

(10). History of origin of tabla and mridang.

(11). Essay on the following topics: Importance of music in human life, place of Taal and Lay in music.

Practical

(1). Practice of playing the Theka of Ektaal, Sulfak, Deepchandi, Rupak, Teevra and Tilwada Taal in Thah, Dugun and Chaugun Laykari. The practice of recitation the Theka of the above mentioned taals in Thah Dugun and Chaugun by showing tali khali on the hand.

(2). Practice of playing Kaida, Peshkar, Rela, Tukda and Mukhra in Tritaal. Practice of playing three Kaida, two Peshkars, two Tukda and three Tihai in Jhaptaal and Ektaal. Practice of playing the Theka of Dadra and Keharwa in reverse.

(3). Practice of playing the Theka of Sulfak, Chautaal, Teevra and Dhamar taals on Pakhawaj in Thah, Dugun and Chaugun laykari and Gat, Toda and Paran in the above mentioned taals.

(4).Practice of playing simple Theka with Nit and instrument.

(5). General knowledge of playing Lehra in the taal of the syllabus.

(6). For general knowledge – knowledge of Theka in Teevra, Sooltaal, Deepchandi and their use.

(7).For Pakhawaj – Chartaal, Sooltaal, Teevra five simple Paran, knowledge of Chakkaradar Paran.

(8) Ability to play the bol spoken by another person on tabla or pakhawaj.
