Theory

(1).Definition of the following – Sangeet, Dhwani, Naad, shruti, Swar, Shudha and Vikrit Swar, Komal and Tiwra swar, Saptak (Mandra, Madhya, Tar), Thaat, Raag, Vadi, Samvadi, Anuvadi, Vivadi, Mukhyang, Alap, Taan, Swaramalika, Lakshan Geet, Kalpana Sangeet, Sthai, Antara, Lay (Vilambit, Madhya and Drut), Jati (Audav, Shadav and Sampurna), Tali, Khali, Theka, Aavartan, Dugun etc.

(2).Complete classical introduction to the raags prescribed in the syllabus-Swar, Swar mentioned in the raag, Aarohi, Aarohi, Jati, Vadi, Samavadi, Mel, singing time, Mukhyang etc.

(3).Ability to recognize raag through special swar.

(4).Knowledge of swarlipi of simple sargam songs.

(5).Knowledge of prescribed taals.

Practical

(1)Swar Gyan- Practice of seven shudh and five vikrit swars with special proficiency on shudh swars.

(2).Practice of reciting Ekgun and Dugun of prescribed taals by showing them khali on the hand.

(3).Difference between Ekgun and Dugun lay and practice of singing in aakar of swar.

(4).Prescribed raags –

  • Asavari
  • Bhairavi
  • Bihag
  • Bageshree
  • Kamodi
  • Bilhari
  • Saberi.

(5).Sargam songs in the raags of the syllabus.

(6). Odissi song in each raag in one Madhyalay.

(7).Practice of singing the National Song (Jan-Gan-Man).

(8).The following prescribed taals – Triput and Jhamp Purvatti courses in Ekgun and Dugun laykari have the ability to speak all the taals in Dugun Chaugun.

(9) Practice of performing taals by clapping tali on hands.
