Theory

First Paper

(1).Detailed knowledge of all the pre-determined terminologies.

(2).History of Odissi music, Place of Odissi music in Indian music, Murchhana, Aadhunik Thaat, Kalavant, Vaggeyakar, Pandit, Nayak, Gamak and its types, Vani and Indian musical instruments classification Tat Vadya, Vitat Vadya, Avandha Vadya, Sushir Different types of instruments.

(3). Comparison between Odissi, Northern Taal paddhati and Karnataka Taal paddhati.

(4). Comparison between Odissi, Northern and Carnatic music paddhati.

(5).Knowledge of Shruti swar vibhajan in different tenses.

(6). Classification of Orissa raags.

(7). Classification of various instruments.

(8). Compositions-

  • Features of Orissa music and special parts of Orissa music.
  • Need of music in life.
  • Influence of classical music on the Janta.
  • Radio and film music.
  • Music and its swarlipi.

(9). Knowledge of Murchchhana and origin of Orissa mail from Murchchhana.

(10). Merits and demerits of the singer.

(11). Knowledge of Harmony, Melody, Major Tone, Semi Tone and Minor Tone.

(12). Knowledge of western music paddhati.

(13). Knowledge of pracheen Raag Ragini classification.

(14). Knowledge of pracheen and aadhunik Alap singing and its aadhunik comparative study with Alap singer.

Second Paper

(1). Comparative study of raags of all previous courses and fifth year.

(2). Ability to show scarcity and Alpatva in raags, Tirobhav and Aavirbhav in Sam.

(3). Practice of swarlipi any song.

(4).Knowledge of writing various laykari in prescribed taals.

(5). Knowledge of the following-

  • Analysis of Harmonium.
  • Classification of pracheen , madhyakalin and aadhunik raags.
  • Relationship between music art and musicology.
  • Little knowledge of western music.
  • Staff swar lipi.

(6). Knowledge of Orissa music gharanas and tradition.

(7). History of origin of swarlipi paddhati of music.

(8).Writing difficult laykari of Dhupad song.

(9). Knowledge of Kalavant, Nayak, Vagyekar.

(10). Knowledge of various musical instruments (Tat, Ghan, Sushir under Avanaddha etc.)

Practical

(1). Knowledge of tuning Tanpura, Mardal and other instruments used in singing Odissi songs.

(2). Ability to recognize the tone of songs and compositions sung by someone else in aakar.

(3). Practice singing notes with difficult blending.

(4). Impressive vocal delivery in all prescribed ragas.

(5). Detailed knowledge of all prescribed raags, comparison of samaprakrtik raags performance.

(6). Practice of performing difficult laykari in taals of previous and present syllabus.

(7). Two songs each from Geet Govind, Chaupaiyan, Chhand and Bhajans.

(8). Prescribed raag –

(9). A fantasy music in two raags of the course in Vilambit and Madhya lay.

(10). Two Dhupad with Ekgun (Thah), Dugun, Tigun and Chaugun lay in the prescribed raags.

(11). Ability to perform Practically in Samaprakrtik raags of Alpatva, Bahutva, Arvibhav, Tirobhav etc.

(12).Prescribed Taal, Rupak Taal (7 Matras), Yeti (14 Matras), Ekgun, Dugun, Tigun and Chaugun in rhythms.

(13). Lakshan geet or Swar Malika in prescribed raags.

(14). One Odissi geet  each in the raags of the syllabus.

Stage performance

(1) It is mandatory for each candidate to give an impressive stage performance of at least 35 minutes.

Note: Syllabus of previous years will be same.
