Theory

  1. Study of the following musical terms-

Raaglakshan, Raagalap, Rupkalap, Alpatav,Bahutav, Nyas, Apanyas, Vinyas, Laag, Daat, Gitkiri, Desi Sangeet, Margi sangeet, Kasbi, Atai, Swasthana Niyam, Vidari ,chut,  Alap ki vidhi, Taan and its types, Jati Gyan ,Gayaki, Nayaki, Akshiptika and Geet.

  • Complete history in relation to Shruti division (of Pracheen, Madhay, Aadhunik Kaal)
  • Determination of movement number and their tiwrata with the help of Shadaj-Pancham Bhav.

2.Comparison of prescribed raag, showing Tirobhav and Aavirbhav of raags.

3.History of sitar gharanas and playing style. Uniqueness and history of playing style of other musical instruments.

4.Detailed knowledge of Bhatkhande and Vishnu Digambar swarlipi paddhati and their opinion regarding their inconvenience and errors and the measures for their amendment.

5.Practice of writing in Gat, Toda and Jhala Bhatkhande and Vishnu Digambar Swarlipi paddhati.

6.Gat and its types, method of making vadan style effective, rules of stage performance.

7.Essay:-

  • Sangeet and Sahitya.
  • Lok sangeet.
  • Suggestions for popularizing Indian music.

8.Ability to create new Gat with Swarlipi.

9.Description of various gharanas of Tantra Instrument along with their characteristics.

10.Biography and contribution to music –

   Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan, Dabir Khan and Inayat Khan.

Practical

  1. Practice playing Razakhani Gat with complete playing style in the following raag group (Alap, Jod anivarya) prescribed raags, Hindol, Vibhas, Chhayanat, Darbari Kanhada, Puriya, Bahar, Shankar Maruvihar and Sohini, Todi, Jayjaywanti, Kamod and Deshkar.
  2. Effective and proper playing of all the above mentioned raags including Razakhani Gat Alap, Jod Alap, Jhala, Tihaidar Todas. It is compulsory to play Masitkhani Gat in any of the four prescribed raags.
  3. Knowledge of difficult swar and ability to write them in swarlipi.
  4. Showing difficult Layakari on the instrument.
  5. Playing the swars in an impressive playing style with Meend or Sut Ghasit Zamzama Gamak.
  6. Practice of playing Gat in any one of the following raags from the raag groups prescribed in the syllabus –
  7. Rupak, Dhamar and Ektaal.
  8. A thumri or tune in any of the following raags-
  • Pilu
  • Bhairavi
  • Khamaj

9.Ability to showing similarity, diversity, scarcity – Alpatva – Bahutva and Aavirbhav-Tirobhav of prescribed raag groups.

  1. 10.Ability to recognize melody by listening to Alap.
  2. Practice of reciting Thah, Dugun, Tigun, Chaugun and Aad Lay of Taals prescribed in previous years’ syllabus by showing clapping hands.
  3. Practice recitation the bols of the theka of
  4. Gajjhampa
  5. Pancham Sawari
  6. Mattaal,
  7.  Adachar Taal,
  8. Jhumra
  9. Jat Taal.
