Deshi Raag is believed to have originated from Asavari thaat. In this raag Ga(k)Dha(k) & Ni(k) are used as komal swar .Ga is not used in aaroh and all seven swars are used in avoroh ,so its jati is Shadav-Sampurn. In this raag Pa and Re are Vadi & Samvadi swar .The singing time of this raag is 9 am to 12 pm(the second part of the day).

Important Notes:-

1.This is an ancient raag. Explanation of this raag is found in ancient granth. But these form is deferent from modern deshi raag.

2.Although both dhaivat are used in this raag but komal dhaivat(Dha) are less use as comparison to shudh dhaivat . Shudh dhaivat(Dha) are use in both aaroh and avaroh with pancham. As- Re Ma Pa, Dha Ma Pa,  Ni(k) Sa* and Sa* Pa, dha Ma Pa. Some singers do not use komal dhaivat (Dha)

3.Association of Sa Pa with meend is special in this.

4.Practice of this is curve. Sometimes practice of this raag is straight in Aaroh.
