Theory

(1).Definition- Two main paddhati of Indian music, Taan, Saptak (Mand, Madhaya and Tar), Kan,Sparsh swar,Wakra swar, Janya raag, Thaat, Poorvag raag, Uttarang raag and Ashraya raag.

(2).Brief Introduction-Marg Sangeet, Classical Sangeet, Desi Sangeet, Dhun, Dhamar, Geet and Ghazal.

(3).Introduction to instruments – Tanpura, Ektara and Do Tara.

(4).Various compositions on Kirtan, Baul, Lok geet and Bhajan.

(5).Sugam sangeet feature and effects.

(6).It is necessary to know the full introduction of the group of the prescribed raag.

(7).Practice of writing the bol of the Theka  of the prescribed Taal group in Thah, Dugun and Chaugun layakri.

(8).Ability to recognize raag by looking at written swar group.

(9).Biography-

Practical

(1).It is necessary to know the Chota Khayal in the following raag groups – Desh, Bageshree, Bihag, Bhairavi, Asavari, Pilu and Vrindavani Sarang.

(2).Practice singing the following song-

(3). For Bangala speaking – Kirtan (one), Bhatiyali (two), Meera Bhajan (two), Brahmananda’s bhajan(one),Dijendra Geet(one),Regional Bhajan(one),Nazrul Geet(one),Raag Pradhan Geet (three), must be in Khamaj and Bhairavi.

(4).For other language speakers – Meera Bhajan (one), Brahmanand Bhajan (one), Regional lok geet (one), Surdas (one), Kabir (one), Ragasrit Geet (three), Kafi, Khamaj and Bhairavi are necessary.

(5).Knowledge of Chautaal, Ektaal, Dhamar, Khemta, Taals and practice of recitation by tali and khali on the bol of these Taal groups (no need for Baddh geet in these Taal groups).

 Practicing singing on Tanpura.
