- Yamini Krishnamurthy was born in Madanapalle in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. He was brought up in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu.
- He was born on the night of a half moon, and his grandfather named him Yamini Purnatilaka, meaning “one born full of night.” He was brought to Universal, the template. It is their mother tongue.
Career
- Yamini Krishnamurthy made his debut in Madras in 1957. She has the honor of being the Asthana Nartaki (resident dancer) of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. She was also known as the “torch bearer” of the Kuchipudi dance style.
- She teaches dance to young dancers at her institute, Yamini School of Dance, Hauz Khas, New Delhi.
