Initially, she was irritated by him and kept him away. However, Kapoor did not give up on his attitude.

  • She tried to convince her grandmother, who was apprehensive about Vyjayanthimala entering films as she felt that her granddaughter was too young to act in films and it would hinder her education and dance.
  • At just 13, Vyjayanthimala played the role of a college girl named Mohana Sivasankaralingam and acted alongside senior actors S.V.Sahasranamam, M.S.Draupadi, T.R.Ramachandran and K.Shankarpani.
  • The success of his Tamil film Vaazhakai in South India prompted AVM Productions to remake it in Hindi as Bahar in 1951.
  • In 1965, Vyjayanthimala starred in two commercially disappointing films; New Law, with Ashok Kumar and Bharat Bhushan and named Iruvar T.R. Mahalingam, but both films are considered excellent by critics.

  • Subsequently, he made his debut in the Lok Sabha, the directly elected lower house of the Parliament of India, along with Amitabh Bachchan in late January 1985.
  • In 1989, Vyjayanthimala again faced the 1989 Tamil Nadu general election, this time being opposed by Alladi Aruna of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
