Important notes-

(1) It is clear from the name  itself that it is a mixture of two Raag Puriya and Kalyan. It has Puria in its east and Kalyan in its north.

(2) Ignoring Shadaj in this, its movement mostly starts with Nishad like- NiRe(k) Ga. Similarly, in Uttara Ga, most of the people use Dha Ni Sa*, ignoring Pancham Ma.

(3) This Raag is not only Sandhiprakash, it is also Parmel Praveshak Raag. The reason is clear that this raag Marwa thaat leads to the raags of Kalyan thaat.

 (4) Classically, it should be sung before 7 in the evening, but singers sing and play it in the time of Raag Kalyan till around 10 in the night.

(5) The Rishabh of this raag does not seem to be as independent as that of Marwa, but like Puriya, it has Gandhar Pramukh and Rishabh Gaur in it. By increasing Rishabh, instead of Puriya Kalyan, Par Marwa Kalyan will be created.

(6) Komal Rishabh, Panchama and Dhaivat swaras have great importance in this. It is necessary to use neither vowels in between. These voices used to make beautiful coordination of Puriya and Kalyan raags. Use of Komal Rishabh is necessary to protect from Kalyan Raa, Panchama to protect from Puriya and Shuddha Dhaivat is necessary to protect from Puriya Dhanashree.

(7) Some people consider Purva and Puriya Kalyan to be the same, but both are completely different. Purva Kalyan is a mixture of Puriya, Marwa and Kalyan and Re(k) or Kalyan is a mixture of Puriya and Kalyan.

Nyas swar-Sa, Ga Pa ।
