Early Life –
- Unnikrishnan was born. Radhakrishnan and Dr. Harini Radhakrishnan in Palakkad, Kerala.
- He went to Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School, Chennai. Later he transferred to Santhome Higher Secondary School, Chennai and completed his schooling in 1984.
- He graduated from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College, Chennai, and received a B.Com degree from Madras University.
- He earned a Diploma in Common Law and Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations.
- He worked as an executive at Parry’s Confectionery Limited from 1987 to 1994, when he left his job to become a professional singer.
Personal Life-
- Unnikrishnan is married to Priya, a Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam dancer and a native of Kozhikode, Kerala.
- They got married in November 1994 and have 2 children – a son named Vasudev Krishna and a daughter named Uthra.
- Uthara won the National Award for Playback Singing for her first song “Azhagu” in the film “Saivam”. Both Unnikrishnan and Uthara received National Awards for their first songs.
- Vasudev is fond of cricket and is a member of the Madras Cricket Club and a life member of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.
Career-
- Unnikrishnan was introduced to V.L. at the age of 12. Seshadri taught Carnatic music. She is Sangeeta Kalanidhi Dr. S. Was inspired by Ramanathan.
- He attended a special workshop for six months on “Veena Dhanammal Bhani” under Sangeeta Kalanidhi T. Brinda and Sangeeta Kalanidhi Dr. T. Vishwa Nathan.
- He won the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the songs “Ennavale Aadi Ennavale” and “Uyirum Neye” from his debut film.
- Unnikrishnan is also known for his experimental works. In 2008, he presented a unique jazz concert in Thiruvananthapuram with the Eli Yamin Jazz Quartet and pianist Anil Srinivasan.
