Important raag-

Raag Narayani has been brought from the southern style of music to the Hindustani style by the musican. The presence of komal Nishad in this raag differentiates it from Raag Durga.

The fifth is the nyasa swara and the Dhaivat is prolonged in the avaroh, like – Sa Re Pa- Ma Pa Ni(k) Dha Dha Pa.

Prolonging the Dhaivat makes this raag different from Surdasi Malhar, where the dhaivat is not prolonged.

It is a raag of a calm nature, which is expanded in the middle and chord octaves.
