Raag Komal Rishabh Asawari is believed to have originated from Bhairavi thaat. In this raag Rishabh, Gandhar, Dhaivat and Nishad are used as komal swar and all remaining swars are used as shudha. Gandhar & Nishad are not used in aaroh and Pancham is not used in avaroh. Its jati is Audav -Shadav(5,6). In this raag Dha & Re are Vadi & Samvadi swar .The singing time of this raag is 9 am to 12 pm (the second part of the night).

Important Notes-

  • This is a very sweet day raag. It is also called Aasvari Todi. This raag is similar to Bilaskhani Todi. Madhyama and Nishad are not used in the Aaroh of Par Raag Bilaskhani Todi while Gandhara and Nishad are not used in Raag Komal-Rishabh Aasavari. In both the raags, there are Pancham is not used in the avaroh. This is the raag of Bhairavi Thaat.
  • In the purvanga of this raag, the swaras Sa Re(k) Ga(k)- Ga(k)Re(k) Ga(k)Re(k) Sa sound like raag todi and in the uttarang the aasavari ang is visible.
  • Shadj (Sa) is often not used in the descent like – Sa* Re(k)*Ni(k)Dha(k)- Dha(k)Sa* Re(k)*G(k) Re(k)*Ni( k)th(k).
  • In this raag there is five Ma nyas swaras, but in the descent it is omitted, as in Sa Re(k) Ma Pa – Pa Dha(k)Pa – Pa Dha(k)Ni(k)Dha(k)Ma Ga(k) Re(k) – Re(k) Ga(k) Re(k) Sa.
  • In this raag, Nishad is prohibited in Aroha Par but it is sometimes used as a transliterated swara like – Re(k)*Ni(k)Sa Re(k)*Ga*(k) or Re(k) , Ni( k)Sa Re(k).
  • This is a Meend Pradhan Raag. This raag can be sung in all the three octaves.
  • The nature of this raag is calm and serious. These vocal accompaniments show the form of Raag Mal-Rishabh Aasavari.
