Important Notes-

  • Raag Jog is a very melodious raag. In this raag, shudha Gandhar is used in the aaroh and komal Gandhar is used in the avaroh.
  • But both the Gandharas can be used together in its avaroh like – Pa Ma Ga Ma Ga Ga (k) Sa. Gandhar is reached from Komal to Shadj by Meend.
  • Similarly, while taking Ma Ga Sa in avaroh, Gandhara takes the first syllable of Komal as a particle vowel like – Ma (Sa) Ga(k) Sa.
  • While applying Nishad in Uttarang, sometimes Shadaj is used as a particle swar like – Ga Ma Pa (San)Ni(k) Sa*, due to which this Nishad is heard a little higher than the normal komal Nishad.
  • It is a Meend Pradhan Raag which can be sung freely in all the three octaves. These vocal accompaniments represent the form of Raag Jog.
