Harikauns raag is believed to have originated from Kaphi thaat. In this raag Ga(k) & Ni(k) are used as komal swar and Madhyam is used as tiwra . Re & Dha are not used in this raag and all remaining swars used as shudha.Its jati is Audav- Audav(5,5). • Raag Harikouns is melodious but difficult to sing, as it requires a lot of practice to assimilate the komal Gandhar, komal Nishad and Madhyam tiwra.

• Madhyam intensity makes this raag quite different from raag Malkauns. But to apply this Madhyam tiwra properly, the disciples and artists have to prepare the throat through Riyaz. These vocal accompaniments represent the form of Raag Harikouns.
