Introduction –
- Dimdi is a percussion instrument made of wood, leather and metal. This folk instrument is found in Maharashtra.
- A circular frame drum, about 7-8 inches wide and 2-4 inches deep. One side is covered by the drumhead while the other side is left open.
- The Dimdi is played with the palm and fingers of the right hand, while the left hand supports the drum.
- Its tone can be changed by adjusting the pressure on the skin. It is like a one piece drum similar to kanjira.
