Instructions – 

(1) Some of the music terms in roman english.

(2) Vikrit swar – Komal swar are written in ( re ga dha ni ) in this manner ,  Teevra swar is written ( Ma(t) ) in this manner.

(3) Main Music swar or shudha swars are written in (Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa*) in this manner.

(4)  In indain classical music Sa is shadaj , Re is rishabh , Ga is gandhar , Ma is madhyam , Pa is pancham , Dha is dhewat , Ni is Nishad . 

Raag Purvi

Re dha komal dono madhyam, ga ni samvad sajjaye.

Saye samay jati sampoorn, purvi raag suhaye.

Description of Raag Purvi –

Thaat – purvi

Vadi – samvadi swar – gandhar and nishad

Jati – sampoorn

Gayan samay – shandhyakal

Aaroh – Ni Sa re Ga, ma(t) Pa, ma(t) Dha Ni Sa*.

Avaroh – Sa*, re Ni dha Pa, ma(t) Pa Ga Ma Ga, re Sa.

Pakad – Ni Sa re Ga, re Ga re Ma Ga, ma(t) Ga re Sa.

Important Notes:-

1. This is a shelter raag of its thaat.
2. Both madhyam is used in avaroh of this raag. Twira ma is used in aaroh.
3. This is raag of serious nature. Thumari is not sang in this.
4. This is purvang vadi raag. It’s sang in gloaming evening.
5. Mostly this is play in first and middle octave.

Swar of nyas – Sa, Ga and Pa.

Important swar combination:-

1. Ni Sa re Ga, re Ma – Ga.
2. Ga Ma Ga re Ga, re Sa.
3. Ni Sa re Ga, ma(t) dha Pa – ma(t) Ga Ma- Ga.
4. Pa ma(t) dha Pa ma(t) Ga Ma Ga, re Ga re Ma Ga.
