Baant In Music In English

Laggi- Just like the qaida is played in three taals, in the same way the laggi is played in the Kaharwa taal. In this also there is a reflex like a law.

Baant-Just as there is a turn of law, similarly the turns of the stick are called Baant.

Baantaras Baant is a typical theme-and-variety type composition like a qaida. Although there may have been Baantt farms outside Baantaras, they seem to be rare.

Even in Baantaras the division is not well defined. Below I will present Chhote Lal Mishra’s definition of distribution.

Kayeda, laggi, or independent creation?

Outside Baantaras, it is often said that Baantarasi tabla players use the name Sangat for the Baantaras accompanist. And that may be true for some players from Baantaras. Others say that the shared is a composition made of wood.

According to Chhote Lal Mishra, none of these details is correct. The most common distribution in Baantaras is independent subject and variety type composition.

Although the split usually includes a laggy-type segment, it is not necessarily composed of a laggy. Rather, Laggi can also be made by dividing.

Types of Baant –

Independent Baant –

The most common type of Baant in Baantaras is called Swatantra Baant (independent Baant) or “independent Baant”. This is essentially done in the same way as the law. This includes playing in single, double, or quadruple tempo and developing the Baantt with variations like any qaida. This type of Baantt is sometimes accompanied by laykari (variations of beat-division) in Baantaras.

Some independent Baants are similar to relays from other gharanas in that they can be played at high speed. Below is another Baantt made famous by Anokhelal. This composition (or similar compositions) is sometimes played as a relay outside Baantaras.

Management Baant –

Chhote Lal Mishra identifies another type of Baant which he calls PraBandha Baant or “systematic Baant”. This type of Baant is not developed like a qaida, but is used as a kind of introductory groove for relays. The relay will have rhythmic splits similar to the Baantt.
