History of tabla
The most prominent instrument in the modern era is the tabla. As such, India has a variety of musical instruments in each province of the year, such as dholak, dhol, tasha, nagara in Uttar Pradesh, khol-madal etc. in Bengal and maharastra, tamil nadu etc. in southern provinces. In North India, only two instruments, Pakhawaj and Tabla, are considered in classical music.
It was composed by Amir Khusro, the courtier of Allauddin Khilji. Some scholars do not consider Amir Khusrau to be its father. But this should be explored. It is known from history Amir Khusro was an intelligent man. He comes as the first author in Hindi literature. It is also known from history. That he was a scholar of Arabic and Persian.
Many people consider him as the originator of tabla and sitar instruments used with Khayal singing. The first player of the tabla is named Siddar Khan. After Dhrupad singing, the prevalence of tabla is more than the practice of Khayal singing, this is a special reason. In the singing of Dhrupad and Dhamar were mostly in the form of prayer to one particular God or person, similar to the Chandha and Prabandha singing.
The music of Arab country also came with Yavan in the country of India. Qawwali is also style of arab country. Swars and raga were Indian in Khayal, but when Persian music came here , soft singing like Khayal was born. Pakhawaj was such a loud instrument unsuitabla for accompaniment to him, so those great men divided the Pakhavaj into two parts and gave birth to the tabla. The word “Tabl” is from the Persian country and the tabla was derived from it. The origin of tabla was a scientific exploration.
Sound science is a subject of study in physics. The sound is louder when a structure of Dayan – Bayan is used . Therefore, those musical scientists have made tabla soft instrument. Gradually, the tabla instrument became more prominent. Now-a-days we see that now many types of rhythm instruments are being used in emotion musicians and films. Many rhythms may be born in the future.
