• Abdul Sattar Khan, better known as Ustad Tari Khan, is a Pakistani tabla player and singer. Tari Khan belongs to the Punjab Gharana and is a disciple of Ustad Mian Shaukat Hussain.

Early Life-

• Tari Khan was born in Lahore, Pakistan. He comes from a traditional rabbinic family. His father was a classical singer. At the age of six, Tari became so fascinated by the tabla playing of Ustad Mian Shaukat Hussain Khan that for the next eight years, Tari Khan heard the tabla playing of Ustad Mian Shaukat Hussain Khan at various events.
• At the age of fourteen, he formally became a student of Ustad Mian Shaukat Hussain Khan, and thus began his journey in tabla. Three years later, he would perform for over 2 hours on the death anniversary of tabla master Mian Qadir Baksh.

Career –

• Ustad Tari became famous as the accompanist of ghazal singer Mehdi Hasan as well as Ghulam Ali.
• Ustad Tari Khan has earned and been honored with many titles during his lifetime. Titles and awards include the Golden Crown Taj Poshi, the Hazrat Amir Khusro Award, as well as the Pakistan Pride Performance Award, which earned him the title of Tabla Prince of India and Pakistan.
