Important notes:-

  • Raag Shahana is a variant of Kohda. It is addressed only with the naam of Shahana. This is Uttarang Pradhan Raga. The company of Sa and Dha is very good in this.
  • Pancham and Tar Sa are very important notes in this. The association of Ni(k)Pa is repeatedly shown. Each Aalap ends with Kanhra Ang Ga Ma Re Sa.
  • In Uttarang, most chords from Pancham go directly to Sa, but Ma Pa Dha Ni(k)Sa*, the swar group is not evil. Sometimes it is also used.
  • Sudha Ni is sparingly used in aaroh with the Tar Sa. musican consider this Ma to be a mixture of Bahar, Adana, Bageshree and Malhar raag.
  • Suha and Sughrai are its natural raag. Raag Shahana is separated from Suha by the use of Dhaivat and by the use of .Ni(k)Sa Ga(k)Ma and Sa Ma, Ni(k)Dha Ni(k)Pa swara-groups in the avaroh and Uttarang predominant Sughrai separates.
