- Meera, known as Mirabai and revered as Saint Mirabai, was a 16th-century Hindu mystic poetess and a devotee of Krishna. He is a famous Bhakti saint, especially in the North Indian Hindu tradition.
- Most of the legends about Mirabai mention her fearless disregard for social and family conventions, her devotion to Krishna, her acceptance of Krishna as her husband, and her persecution by her in-laws for her religious devotion.

Early life –
- Mirabai was born in a Rathore Rajput royal family in Kudki (modern Nagaur district of Rajasthan) and spent her childhood in Merta.
- Meera reluctantly married Bhoj Raj, the prince of Mewar in 1516. Her husband was wounded in 1518 in one of the ongoing wars with the Delhi Sultanate, and died of battle wounds in 1521. Khanwa against the first Mughal emperor Babur.
- After the death of his father-in-law, Rana Sanga, Vikram Singh became the ruler of Mewar. According to a popular legend, her in-laws tried to murder her several times, such as sending a glass of poison to Mira and telling her it was nectar or sending her a basket with snakes instead of flowers.
- In no case was he harmed, according to hagiographic legends, the snake miraculously becoming an idol (or a garland of flowers, depending on the version) of Krishna.
- In another version of these legends, she is asked by Vikram Singh to drown herself, which she attempts but finds herself floating on water.
- Other stories state that Meera Bai left the kingdom of Mewar and went on a pilgrimage.
- In her final years, Mira lived in Dwarka or Vrindavan, where legends say she miraculously disappeared in 1547, merging into an idol of Krishna.
- While the miracles are contested by scholars for lack of historical evidence, it is widely accepted that Mira dedicated her life to Lord Krishna, composed devotional songs, and became one of the most important poets of the Bhakti movement. She was one of the saints.

- Most of Meera’s poems are dedicated to God in the form of Krishna (left), calling him the Dark One or the Mountain Lifter.
- Many of Mira Bai’s compositions are still sung in India today, mostly in the form of devotional songs (bhajans), though almost all of them have a philosophical connotation. One of his most popular compositions remains “Pyoji Maine Ram Ratan Dhan Payo”.

Effect
