- Pandit Kumar Bose was born on 4 April 1953 in Kolkata in a musical family. His father, Vishwanath Bose, a tabla player, gave him his first lessons in rhythm.
- His mother Vidushi Bharati Bose was a sitarist and disciple of Dabir Khan and Ali Akbar Khan. He guided them. The son got to know the basic forms of classical music and helped him prepare himself as a professional tabla player.
- His brother Acharya Jayant Bose is an internationally renowned composer, lyricist, harmonium soloist and singer.
Career–
- Bose gave his first public performance at the age of 4. At the age of 14, he performed abroad and has since performed in almost every major music hall in the world.
- He has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and Barbican Center in London, the Kremlin in Moscow, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Carnegie Hall in New York and various venues across India.
- Additionally, Kumar Bose performed for the Raga-Mala Music Society of Toronto at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, Canada in 2019.
