Jat Taal is the taal of Indian classical music or Hindustani Classical Music . It is played on the Tabla as well as on other percussion instruments.

Jat Taal has 16 Beats (matras)  in four equal partitions (Vibhag). There are 4-4 matras in all four partitions called as Vibhag also. There is clapping on 1st, 5th and 13th matra and khali on 9^th matra or beat .Jat Taalplayed on the table in Ekgun , Dugun , Tigun and Chaugun

In taal first Beat (matra) called as Sam and represent as this symbol ( X ).

 Tali – In taal tali is represent with the help of (X . 2 3 ) .

Khali – In taal khali is represent with the help of “0” .

Both hands are used to see the rhythm on the hand.

1st Partition  – Clap on first matra from right hand to left hand and counting 4 times and speaking the words (Bols)

2nd Partition  – Clap on 5th Matra from right hand to left hand and counting 4 times and speaking the words(Bols).

Third Partition  – Keep the 9th Matra empty with the right hand, count 4 times with the right hand and speak the words(Bols).

4th Partition – Clap on 13th Matra from right hand to left hand and count 4 times and speaking words(bols).
