• Born in Mumbai, India, Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan was trained by his father, Ustad Aziz Khan, who was the son of sitar and surbahar player Wahid Khan.
• As is customary in musical families with a rich lineage, Aziz Khan first initiated his son into vocal music and tabla before training him on the sitar for several years.
• Shahid’s uncle, Hafeez Khan also trained him. He trained extensively in the art of tabla for more than 10 years under Munnu Khan of Delhi Gharana.
• His family has contributed many instruments to Hindustani classical music, including Imdad Khan (his great-grandfather), Inayat Khan, Wahid Khan (his grandfather) and Vilayat Khan.

• Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan has performed at all major music festivals in India and abroad including the Festival of India held in USA, Europe, USSR, Canada, Africa, Middle-East and Australia. He has had a distinguished performing career in India and around the world.
