Early Life –

  • Ronu’s father was a homeopathic doctor by profession and a great oil painter of his time, but he played the flute as a hobby.
  • Ronu’s father learned from late Pandit Pannalal Ghosh, the pioneer of flute playing and introduced it in classical music. Ronu’s father was his first guru and later he became a disciple of the late Pandit Vijay Raghav Rao ji, the most famous flute player of all time.


  • Ronu Majumdar is among the more popular musicians on this instrument, and is especially popular with the younger generation for his creative improvisations.
  • Pandit Majumdar’s music is rooted in the Maihar Gharana, which includes eminent musicians like Pandit Ravi Shankar and Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.
