Punjabi Taal is the taal of Indian classical music or Hindustani Classical Music, . It is played on the Tabla as well as on other percussion instruments.
Punjabi Taal has 16 Beats (matras) in four equal partitions (Vibhag). There are 4-4 matras in all four partitions called as Vibhag also. There is clapping on 1st, 5th and 13th matra and khali on 9th matra or beat .Punjabi Taal played on the table in Ekgun , Dugun , Tigun and Chaugun. It is used in Khayal Gayan and Thumri also .
