Tabla – Pakhawaj

Theory

(1).Knowledge of Vilambit,Madhya and Drut Lay.

(2).Different Varn of Tabla/ Pakhawaj and the method of extracting them on your instrument.

(3).-

(a).Varn played by the right hand only.

(b).Varn played only by the left hand.

(C). Varn played with both the hands together.

(4). The exhalation method of the following Bol – Tirikit, Takdan, Kaddha, Kittak, Dhidnag, Dhirdhir, Trak, Kadhan, Gadigan.

(5).Complete information about Pandit Bhatkhande and Pandit Paluskar’s taallipi paddhati.

(6).Practice writing the following taals in both the taallipi paddhati. Tabla: Tritaal, Dadra, Keharwa, Jhaptaal, Rupak. Pakhawaj: Chautaal, Sooltaal, Teevra, Dhamar and Aditaal.

(7). Practice of writing the pieces of Tritaal / Chautaal and Jhaptaal / Sooltaal in Pandit Bhatkhande Taallipi paddhati.

(8).Definition of the following bol :- Kayda, Rela, Palta, Tihai, Mukhda, Laggi, Uthan, Chakradar, Mohra.

Practical

(1). Practice of recitation and playing in Dugun lay by hand-beating the theka of the following taals: Tabla: Dhumali, Deepchandi, Chautal, Tevra. Pakhawaj: Dhamar, Teevra, Trital.

(2). Ability to correctly extract all the bol mentioned in the Shastra Paksha of this year.

(3).Vistar in the following Taal –

For Tabla students-

(1).Tritaal – Trak aur Dhatidhage ka ek-ek kayada, four Palat, Tihai, one Rela, four Kisam, one Chakradar, two Tukda

(2).Jhaptaal – One Kayada, two Tihai.

(3).Ektal -Two Tihai, two Tukda

(4).Two laggiyan. in Dadra and Keharwa.

(5).Rupak – Two Kisam, two Tihai, two Tukda.

For the students of Pakhawaj –

(1).Chautaal – Two Rela, one Padar, two simple Paran, two Chakradar Paran and two Tukda.

(2).Sooltal – One Rela, two Paran.

(3).Dhamar – Two Paran, two Tihai, two Tukda.

(4).Teevra – Two types of Theka, two Paran, two Tihai.

(5).Tabla – Ability to accompany Chota Khayal or Razakhani Gat in Tritaal.

(6).Pakhavaj- Ability to accompany Dhrupad.

(7).All compositions written in Practical form are read by hand-beating.

Ank Talika

(1).Theka of taals and playing them in Dugun: 10 marks

(2).Nikash: 10 marks ,

(3).Playing in Tritaal: 05 marks,

(4).Playing in Jhaptaal, Ektaal, Rupak: 15 marks,

(5).Laggiyan in Dadra and Keharwa: 05 marks,

(6).Compatible with (According to Practical syllabus):05 marks,

(7).Hand-beating reading: 10 marks,

(8).General Impression: 05 Marks.

(9).Total Theory = 75 Marks.

Information:-

(1).Each student has been allotted 20 minutes.

(2).The student has to do all the Instrumental with Lehra.

(3).For Pakhawaj, the taal of Pakhawaj will be asked according to the syllabus.
