Theory

  • Knowledge of technical terms of Sangeet –Sangeet,  Dhwani,  Shruti,  Naad,  Swar(Vikrit  and Shuddh , Chal  and Achal Swar ),  Saptak ,Thaat ,  Raag (three jati of raag), Sthai ,Aarohi ,  Aavarohi,  and  Sanchari , Alankar,  Vadi,  Samvadi,  Anuvadi,  Aaroh,  Avaroh ,  Varjit svar,  Mukhayang ,  Toda , Bol, Gat, Aakarsh Pahaar (Sulat), Apakarsh prahar (Ulat) ,
  • Lay ,and its types (Vilambit , Madhya and Drut ), Baaj ka Taar , Jod ka Taar , Matra taal , Vibhaag , Sam ,Khali , Theka , Aavartan , Thah , and Dugun .
  • Knowledge of two main paddhati of Indian music.
  • Description of Razakhani and Masitkhani gats.
  • Knowledge of musical instruments with names of different parts of your instrument.
  • Knowledge of Bhatkhande Swarlipi paddhati.
  • Practice of writing the Theka thah of the Taal groups prescribed in the syllabus and the Dugun layakari.
  • Knowledge of Swarlipi paddhati of Pt. Vishnu Digamber Pluskar and Pt. Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande.

Practical

  • Knowledge of proper finger placement on your instrument and knowledge of playing simple Alankars.
  • Practice playing of Ten Alankars, Thah and Dugun Lay on your instrument.
  • Practice of playing Da, Da, Dir, Darar, Dara etc. (on sitar and sarod instruments).
  • Practice of playing with Masitkhani, Razakhani Gat Todo in the following raags.
  • Prescribed Raag – Bilawal, Yaman, Kafi, Bhairav, Bhimplasi, Bhupali and Vihag
  • Ability to recognize raag by listening to swars vistar.
  • Practice of speaking by showing the Bol Thah and Dugun lay Tali, Khali, of the following taal groups –Dadra, Kharwa, Teen taal , Jhaptaal, and Ektaal.
  • National Anthem – Jana Gana Mana.
  • Note – The syllabus of the previous year will be combined.
