Ek Taal is the most common taal of Indian classical music or Hindustani Classical Musi.It is played on the Tabla as well as on other percussion instruments.This Taal is used in small and big thoughts.

Ek Taal has 12 Beats (matras)  in 6 partitions (Vibhag). There are 2-2 matras in all four partitions called as Vibhag also. There is clapping on 1st, 5th ,9 th and 11th matra and khali on 3rd ,7 th matra or beat .Ek Taal played on the table in Ekgun , Dugun , Tigun and Chaugun.

1st Partition  – Clap on first matra from right hand to left hand and counting 2 times and speaking the words (Bols)

2nd Partition  – Keep the 3 th Matra empty with the right hand, count  2 times with the right hand and speak the words(Bols).

3rd Partition  – Clap on 5 th Matra from right hand to left hand and count 2 times and speaking words(bols)

4th Partition – Clap on 7 th Matra from right hand to left hand and count 2  times and speaking words(bols).
