Nayaki kanada raag  is believed to have originated from Kaphi thaat. In this raag Ga(k) & Ni(k) are used as komal swar .Dha is not used in this raag . Its jati is Shadav- Shadav. In this raag Ma & Sa are Vadi & Samvadi swar .The singing time of this raag is midnight.

Avaroh – Sa*Ni(k) Sa*, PaNi(k) Pa, Ni(k)Ma Pa, MaGa(k) – Ga(k) Ma Re Sa.

Pakad – Sa Ma Re Pa, PaNi(k) Pa, Ma Ga(k) – Ga(k) Ma – ReSaRe – Sa.

Thaat- Kaphi thaat

Varjit swar – Dhaivat

Vadi – Samvadi swar- Ma and Sa.

Jati – Shadav- Shadav

Important Notes:-

1.As the name suggest this is type of kanhda. This is beautiful combination of malhar and kanhda. Re Pa and ni Ma Pa is swar of malhar and ni Pa & Maga – Ma Re Sa is swar of kanhda. Some singers believe this is combination of suha and sarang raag.

2.Always pancham is used as particle on nishad and madhyam on gandhar in this raag.

3.This is raag of curve shadav jati. Agitation is occur on gandhar.

4.Association of Pa ga and Pa sa* is show again and again in this. Firstly goes pancham to gandhar in avaroh. Then agitated it’s two times and used Ma Re Sa match with middle Sa as- Pa Maga Maga Ma Re Sa. Straight goes rishabh to gandhar in Aaroh after that madhyam is agitated to times on gandhar, as- re Pa Maga – gaMa, Ma Pa ni Pa then goes to higher Sa. Mostly Ma Pa, Pa ni Pa Sa* swar group is used.

5.Some singers use soft dhevat and believe this is raag of sampoorn jati.

6.This is raag of serious nature. Chhota khyal, bada khyal, tarana etc sang in this. Thumri is not sang in this.

7.Some singers is less use of shudh ni. Soft ni is used in both aaroh and avaroh.
