Important Notes:-

It is said that Tansen create new raag named Malhar. Which later come to be know as miya malhar. This is not found in ancient granth.

Although malhar has many types as- gaur malhar,  sur malhar, ramdashi malhar etc. According to late krishan rao shankar pandit and Vinayak rao patvardhan’s opinion only miya malhar should be understood from malhar. Some singers do not believe in this they say that only malhar is not raag then why we understand miya malhar from malhar.

Soft gandhar is used in this. Only it’s mentioned in raag explanation. But it’s not enough to just say. Soft gandhar is agitated like darbari kanhda’s gandhar in this. But gandhar is very different of both raag.

Nearly used of both nishad is personal speciality of miya malhar as- Ma Pa Ni – Dha Ni – Sa*. It’s use is very ear loving. Sometimes both nishad is use together.

Jati of this is considered as sampoorn in aaroh but gandhar is used curve. Bhatkhande is not use gandhar in aaroh.

This raag is sang any time in rany season. Therefore it is also known as seasional raag.
