Basant raag is believed to have originated from Purvi thaat. Re(k) & Dha(k) ara used as komal swar and both Madhyam are used in this raag . Re(k) & Pa are not used in aaroh.Its jati is Audav -Sampurn. In this raag Sa* & Pa are Vadi & Samvadi swar .The singing time of this raag is 3 am to 6 am(the last hours of the night).
