Avroh – Sa* Ni dha Pa Ma Ga re Sa.

Pakad-  Ga Ma dha – dha – Pa, Ma Pa Ga Ma re – re – Sa.

Important Notes:-

  1. This is shelter raag of its thaat because  thaat is named on the basis of this raag.
  2. This is also called as gloaming raag the reason is obvious this is playing in gloaming morning.
  3. Soft re – dha is agitated in this, As Ga Ma re – re – Sa. Touch the upper swar at the time of aggitation.
  4. Mostly curve gandhar is used in avaroh, As Ga Ma re – re – Sa.
  5. This is an ancient raag. When was raag ragini padhiti popular in medieval period at that time this was considered as chief raag according to the all four opinion.
  6. This is raag of serious and compassionate nature. Dhrupad, bda khyaal, chhota khyaal, dhamaar and tarana is sang in this. Thumri is not sang in this.
  7. Sometimes pancham is taboo in its aaroh, As Sa Ga Ma dha – dha Pa.
  8. This is known as Mayamalavgaur in South. Music education start with its raag in South.
