- This is shelter raag of its thaat because thaat is named on the basis of this raag.

- Mostly curve gandhar is used in avaroh, As Ga Ma re – re – Sa.
- This is an ancient raag. When was raag ragini padhiti popular in medieval period at that time this was considered as chief raag according to the all four opinion.
- This is raag of serious and compassionate nature. Dhrupad, bda khyaal, chhota khyaal, dhamaar and tarana is sang in this. Thumri is not sang in this.
